MURDERED: Joan Webster & Marie Iannuzzi
In 1981, a Harvard graduate student vanished after stepping out of Logan Airport the night after Thanksgiving. As investigators searched for answers, they focused on a suspect connected to another murder – a woman who was killed just two years earlier. He was convicted in one case and widely believed responsible for the other. But after reviewing thousands of pages of records, we found gaps that raise difficult questions: Was the wrong man blamed? And is the real killer still out there?

MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF: Amanda Wienckowski
When 20-year-old Amanda Wienckowski vanished one night in Buffalo, her mom, Leslie, refused to sit back and wait for answers. She begged police to listen and even parked outside the house where Amanda was last seen — for weeks — hoping her daughter would walk out the front door. What followed would test every ounce of a mother’s strength: a case full of contradictions, silence from the system, and a fight that would stretch on for more than a decade. This is the story of a mother who wouldn’t let the world forget her daughter — no matter how long it takes for justice.

INFAMOUS: A Conversation with JonBenét Ramsey's Father
In November 2024, Ashley Flowers sat down with John Ramsey at his home for a one-on-one conversation about the murder of his daughter, JonBenét Ramsey.
In the year since that interview, John has met with the Boulder Police Department and appeared in multiple media outlets, pushing for additional testing in his daughter’s case. Ashley has also continued meeting with people connected to the case, and hopes to one day soon have an update to share.
Following Boulder Police’s most recent update on Dec. 12, 2025, it appears more testing is planned and efforts continue to solve the nearly 30-year mystery of who killed JonBenét. John’s conversation with Ashley may give us a clue into what items they’re looking at testing.

SCANDAL: Police Explorer Programs
Law enforcement Explorer programs were created to mentor teens interested in policing. But decades of weak oversight created an environment where officers could manipulate that trust. Some exploited their roles, using their authority to groom, abuse, and silence the very teens they were entrusted to guide.

Staying Safe in Youth Law Enforcement Programs:
If you or your child is involved in a Police Explorer program – or any youth mentorship run by law enforcement – there are steps you can take to reduce risk and create safer boundaries.
- Ask direct questions. Who runs the program? What are the policies around texting, ride-alongs, and one-on-one interactions? Are there rules that limit contact between adult officers and minors outside of scheduled events?
- Insist on transparency. Reputable programs should have clear, written guidelines about communication, supervision, and conduct. Ask to see them.
- Monitor ride-alongs. Know who your child is riding with, how long they’re gone, and what the reporting procedures are.
- Watch the tech. Officers or advisors should never be Snapchatting, DMing, or texting minors privately. Monitor app usage and discuss healthy boundaries.
- Get involved. Show up to meetings. Get to know the adults running the program. Your presence as a parent or guardian helps make the space safer for everyone.
- Keep communication open. Let your child know they can talk to you about anything — especially if something makes them uncomfortable. Make it clear that they won’t be in trouble for speaking up.
Getting Help:
If you or someone you know has experienced abuse in a Police Explorer or similar youth program, here’s what to do:
- Believe them. If a child or teen discloses abuse, believe what they say. Stay calm, listen, and affirm that it’s not their fault. Praise them for coming forward.
- Report it. If the child is in danger, call 911. Otherwise, contact your local police, sheriff’s department, or state child protection agency. If you’re concerned local police might have a conflict of interest, contact your state police, state attorney general, or the FBI.
- Document/preserve everything. Save messages, screenshots, call logs — anything that could help support the report.
- Seek emotional support: Abuse by a trusted adult is incredibly disorienting. You and/or your child deserve compassionate care from someone trained in trauma — like a therapist, school counselor, or crisis line advocate.
- Connect with survivor resources. Many organizations offer specialized support for young people.
- Consult legal counsel: Some survivors explore civil legal action against individuals or institutions. An attorney familiar with institutional abuse cases can help assess your options.
Red Flags: Signs of Grooming or Abuse in Explorer Programs:
Abuse by authority figures often begins with grooming — a gradual, often-subtle process that builds trust before violating it. Here are common warning signs in youth law enforcement programs:
- “Special” treatment. One teen is singled out for attention, gifts, mentorship, or exclusive opportunities not given to others.
- Excessive one-on-one contact. Repeated private ride-alongs, late-night messages, or invitations to hang out off-duty.
- Private communication. The adult uses personal texting apps, Snapchat, Instagram DMs, or other unmonitored channels to talk to a minor.
- Overstepping/blurring boundaries. Inappropriate compliments, jokes about relationships, or sharing personal details not appropriate for a mentor-mentee dynamic.
- Isolation. The adult discourages the teen from talking to others about their relationship or makes the teen feel responsible for their secrecy.
- Gaslighting or guilt. The adult blames the teen for misunderstandings, manipulates their emotions, or makes them feel they’ll “ruin someone’s life” if they speak out.
- Physical contact. Touch that’s unnecessary, prolonged, or makes the teen uncomfortable — even if it’s framed as casual or accidental.

MURDERED: Sandra Birchmore
In 2021, 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore was found dead in her apartment. And what Massachusetts investigators quickly called a suicide slowly revealed itself to be something much more sinister. Because out of the woodwork came friends, family, and co-workers with stories that Sandra had told them about her life. Stories of grooming, sexual abuse, and years of misconduct at the hands of several Stoughton Police officers… which began when she was barely a teenager.
Three officers later resigned from the department. With a 2026 federal trial pending, the whole state has been left to wonder whether Sandra’s death was truly a suicide – as state police continue to maintain – or the end result of something much darker.

A frantic phone call, an abrupt departure, and then… silence. When Everett and Lydia Thompson disappear along with their two young sons, the trail leads to one man whose story keeps changing. INFAMOUS: The Murdaugh Family Murders
When Maggie and Paul Murdaugh are killed on their family’s estate in 2021, the investigation unravels a history of privilege, corruption, and suspicious deaths tied to one of South Carolina’s most influential families. But beneath the headlines and courtroom drama are stories of people who never got justice, mysteries still unsolved, and a justice system that let one family operate above the law for nearly a century. As appeals move forward and the possibility of a new trial looms, one question remains – why would a man who had everything risk it all by brutally murdering his own family?
Additional info
- Stephen Smith
- In 2023, South Carolina law enforcement officially declared Stephen Smith’s death a homicide, rather than a traffic accident, but still, it’s never been fully explained and no one has ever been arrested in connection with it. If you know anything about his roadside death in July of 2015, please reach out to South Carolina Law Enforcement.
- Mallory Beach
- Mallory’s family was eventually able to settle a lawsuit with one of the places that served Paul that night, with Maggie’s estate and with Buster. No one has ever been put behind bars.
- Gloria Satterfield
- Gloria’s body has purportedly yet to be exhumed. The criminal investigation into her death is ongoing.
